Happy Independence Day/ THE BIG GIVEAWAY

I am a SAHM with four so children's birthdays are a HUGE deal to me. Perhaps its because my own parents always made sure we had special days when we were kids. My sister Jackie and I both have birthdays in August, so we often shared a celebration before school would start up again. We would have all the cousins, aunts and uncles, and even some of the other friends from the neighborhood or school as well and have a big bon fire in the back yard. We would have s'mores, hot dogs, chips, soda and ALWAYS cake and ice cream! The cakes were usually either a Kroger Bakery cake, a Baskin Robins ice cream cake (wonderful Connie Branson, what a dear sweet lady that owned BR at Washington Square Mall!!!) and every now and then we would have a 9x13 cake still in the pan with TWO cans of frosting and sprinkles... um.. YUM!

If you know me at all, you know that I do not discriminate against cake in any way shape or form. I eat it warm and gooey, cold and even sometimes frozen. I'll eat it with milk, with hot coffee, or sometimes a super fizzy soda, but I most often prefer it with soupy ice cream melted in it and all stirred together. yuuuuum.

Now that I am an adult, I am in charge of making birthday parties special! My husband almost always knows exactly what to get the girls for a gift... he is seriously the best at buying presents for his girls. While I am more akin to keeping them babies and buying them baby-ish stuff, he realizes that they are growing and their interests are changing. We make a good birthday party planning committee. He picks out the gift, I bake the cake. :)

I know this has been my longest blog yet, but I just wanted to give you a bit of understanding as to why I love childrens birthdays. I am from a family of six so birthday parties happened all year round. Now, I have a family of my own that is equal in size, and love... and even gender (one man, four little women, and me).

Please help me spread the joy. I want to bless another family in our area with FREE children's birthday cakes for the entire year, no matter how many children you have! The way I see it, the bigger the family, the bigger the party!!!!! :)

The way to enter this drawing (THAT IS IN NO WAY SPONSORED OR ENDORSED BY FACEBOOK)  is 1) comment below. Share a thought about your childhood, your children's birhtdays...anything! Just join in the joy! Be sure to include an email address or some way to contact you if you win!  :)  AND 2) get a SECOND entry in the drawing by posting

8) PICK UP IS IN ODON!!! I can't deliver outside of local area or ship the orders. Thank you! :)

Please note: It has been brought to my attention that several friends are not able to post on this blog. After reading through several help forums, it appears that the problem is with cookies/script coding, especially with google accounts. Your computers cookie settings are very important to the security of your browser and I would never ask anyone to change cookie settings just to enter this give away (and the techno mumbo jumbo is way over my head anyway).

If you are having trouble posting here, please feel free to post your comment that you would have posted here on my facebook page ALONG with the "I want a Sweetie Cakes cake for my Sweeties!" as TWO separate posts and you will get TWO separate entries! Thank you! :) God bless!!!!

  1. My birthday is exactly 2 weeks before Christmas. While growing up, my parents always made sure it was a celebration on it's own. Now, I'm a mom to 2 wonderful kiddos. My son will be 7 in Nov and my daughter will be 1 in March. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win this contest for them!!!

  2. My family has a lot of July Birthdays, my Birthday, my Mom's, and my brother's is all within a week. Growing up, my Mom always wanted up to have our own special day, so she would make us both two seperate cakes, one for my birthday, and one for my brother's birthday. I feel like this coming year, I am celebrating two very special milestone birthdays with my kids, Sydney will be 5 in January, and Savannah will be 1 in February.

  5. My favorite birthday memory is from the year that I got leg warmers for my birthday!! That was also the year that I REALLY wanted a DQ ice cream cake and all they had for already decorated birthday cakes was one with a skunk on it...so that's what I got! I'd love to win the FREE birthday cakes so that the skunk cake will forever be erased from my memory!!

  7. My grandchildren's birthdays are so very special to me. My first grandson and his mom had complications during delivery and we lost him for a little while. Fervent prayer and medical skill brought him back to us (Thank you, God!), and he is now approaching his second birthday. Mommy and baby sister also developed complications and she had to be taken early. I am also looking forward to her first birthday. They are the light of my life!

  10. While birthdays in our house were never anything fancy when I was growing up, my daughter always looks forward to hers. And even though she'd be happy with just a cake, we tend to take it to the 9's. I know eventually she may not care, but for now she loves being the princess for a day!
